Whirl wind Hoosier weekend
As mentioned earlier, my usual trips to Indiana revolve around the tv and the fridge with a stop or two in the community. This last minute trip of mine was packed. I am so lucky to have this husband who understands that there are times I want to be with my parents without husband and children. Here are the highlights:
1. Saw Red Hot Patriot, the Molly Ivins story.
2. Had family dinner with some old friends at a local Chinese buffet.
3. Shopped at a second hand store for kids clothing and really struck gold.
4. Cooked meatloaf and mashed potato meal for Arlington United Methodist Men.
5. Watched presentation of Guatemalan mission house building project.
6. Drove to the farmhouse restaurant in brown county for a meal and excellent peach cobbler.
7. Visited the uncommon Gourd and watched a falcon release.
8. Went to three craft fairs.
9. Watched my mother perform in a play.
10. Took megabus.
11. Ate at FARM, twice! Delicious!!!
12. Tried sugar craft.
13. Visited with my younger sister.
14. Went to City Market downtown Indy.
15. Went to optometrist to order new glasses.
16. Bought new sweater.
17. Took some car naps.

My husband is a hero. He more often than not is the parent running around in the morning making lunches, dressing the kids, and dealing with the general chaos that 6:45 am brings. I guess then that I have little right to comment on morning cuisine choices. I try to bite my tongue most days. Today though, I had to say something. Ice cream cake? The Cosby family reinvented.
Waiting for chaos
Not sure what I was thinking but this weekend the U of E clan descends on the lake house. The weekend I planned the event was beautiful. The weather was just amazing. I decided to throw the invite out to the whole group knowing full well most wouldn’t be able to make it. To my surprise, everyone is available. Rainy forecast to boot. It’s okay though, we’ll bring stuff to occupy the kids and they’ll occupy each other to a certain extent. Here’s hoping they still find each other as charming as they did this summer!!!
Apple Picking fiasco
We decided to go apple picking this weekend. Well, let me rephrase that, I decided to bring my family apple picking. Saturday was just perfect weather for a trip to Michigan to pick apples and visit the lake. I experienced another wonderful parenting moment. On the most beautiful day of the fall, my children bickered, my husband and I couldn’t see eye to eye and we were all stuck in the car driving to Michigan. Way to go mom.
Neighborly gifts…
This morning my neighbor gave me a box of corn on the cob and ripe tomatoes from his family farm. I was psyched to get this cause I had nothing to take for lunch, it being Ramadan. So I popped the ears in the microwave and sliced the tomato. Very yummy!!

The best weekend of my summer
Here is a list I wrote to mark the highlights of the 4th weekend. So much fun…too much fun…thanks for making the journey and thanks for being so friggin awesome.
